For months, rumors have swirled about a possible romance between Morning Live co-stars Helen Skelton and Gethin Jones. From cozy public appearances to lingering chemistry on set, it seemed like there might be something more than just friendship between them. But, in a candid interview, Helen has set the record straight, and it’s not what fans were hoping for.
While attending the Pride of Britain Awards last year, Helen and Gethin were spotted looking particularly close, sparking rumors that they were secretly a couple. But Helen, who split from her husband Richie Myler in 2022, is now putting those speculations to rest. In a February interview, Helen was asked if she and Gethin had been on any romantic dates recently, to which she quickly responded: “No. Well, he’s in Manchester working away, so yeah, no, all good. We just work together, we are not together. No, no, no. We are just work friends.”
Despite their close friendship, Helen made it clear that there is no romance between the pair. “They printed pictures of us at work and that we’re together because we are at work together,” she added, further distancing herself from the rumors.
When questioned about the possibility of remarrying in the future, Helen admitted it wasn’t something she had thought much about. “It’s not something I’ve thought about really. I don’t know – I just take each day as it comes,” she said.
For Gethin, the friendship with Helen remains a special one. He previously spoke about their bond during the Gethin and Helen’s Wheely Big Challenge for Comic Relief, where he confessed he was worried that their partnership would affect their friendship. “What’s different this time is that we have each other. We’re best friends. We’re very honest with one another,” he explained.
Helen also shared her appreciation for Gethin and their other Morning Live co-stars, emphasizing the genuine connection they share. “I’ve done this job for a long time and I feel very lucky that every now and again you land on a group of people and a crew that really clicks,” Helen said. “Gethin and I crossed over a lot at Blue Peter, so we’ve got a lot of the same reference points.”
While fans might have hoped for a different answer, it seems Helen and Gethin are simply great friends who enjoy working together. As for the speculation, it looks like it’s just that—rumors without any substance.
